Mattoon, IL – May 31, 2025 – Mason Hannagan kicked off his 2025 outdoor season with a two-night doubleheader at Coles County Speedway, making his debut in the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series during the King of Coles event.
On Friday night, Hannagan began the weekend by qualifying 6th in his group, just two-tenths off the fastest time. That effort placed him 6th on the grid for his heat race, where he advanced one spot to finish 5th. The result sent him to the Last Chance Showdown, where he started 7th.
There, Hannagan delivered a solid performance, charging forward to 4th. Although he came up just short of a transfer spot into the 20-car A-Main, it was a positive outing that helped him shake off the early-season rust in his Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series debut.
Saturday night offered another opportunity to break into the A-Main field. Hannagan qualified 5th, despite battling fuel issues through turns 3 and 4, earning another 5th-place starting position in his heat. He dropped one spot to finish 6th, once again placing him in the Last Chance Showdown, this time starting 4th.
In the Last Chance Showdown, Hannagan advanced to 3rd, finishing just one position shy of a transfer into the A-Main for the second night in a row. Despite the near misses, it capped off a valuable and productive weekend behind the wheel.
